Whippet Puppy Collar

How to measure your sighthound for a luxury leather dog collar

Whether you have a tiny Italian Greyhound, a Whippet, Greyhound, lurcher or any of the numerous breeds of sighthound, there's one thing you are probably painfully familiar with.

They are amazing collar escape artists.
Due to the shape of their necks they can easily back out of a poorly fitted collar, so a tailor made collar from Petiquette Collars will help eliminate this stressful part of walking these beautiful dogs.

How to measure your sighthound's neck

Rather than measuring the middle of the neck as you would with most dog breeds, it's essential to measure the narrowest part of the neck on a sighthound.
Follow our guide and check the photo for where you should measure your dog for a luxury leather dog collar.

Step 1

With your dog standing comfortably, wrap a soft tape measure, or piece of string if you don't have a tape measure, around the part of the neck at line B on the photograph.
The tape measure should be touching the fur but not constricting the neck.  Please don't add any fingers underneath the tape measure, as this can lead to incorrect sizing.

Step 2

Make a note of this measurement and take a look at the sizes available for our collars.  Choose the collar size which at it's smallest measurement is as close to the neck measurement you have just taken.
For example, if your dog's neck at line B measures approximately 11", then you would select an 11"-13" collar size.

Whippet puppy collars are difficult to find in pet shops. Here at Petiquette, we’re delighted to offer them in any colour that takes your fancy.

Just choose a shade that suits your little pooch and we’ll make the collar by hand to your specifications.

Your whippet puppy collar will be made from the softest Italian calf leather and lined with the same soft leather. There are no hard edges to cause irritation, so the collar will feel luxuriously comfy for your puppy.

As you know, whippets are talented escape artists. They love backing out of their collars, especially when they get excited on walkies. This collar is wide enough to prevent any accidental escape, and to protect your puppy’s little neck. It tapers to a secure but lightweight 5/8” wide buckle and D ring.

We’d recommend a 1.25” for smaller whippet puppies, and a 1.5” collar if they are bigger. There’s a size guide below, but if you have any questions about sizing please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re happy to offer advice.

Need help choosing your colours?

We have over two dozen shades of soft Italian leather that your luxury leather dog collar can be made with, and over a dozen colours of genuine Swarovski crystals.

If you need any help deciding which colours work well together, then feel free to get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Orange whippet collar

Our Whippet always put up such a fuss when he had his old collar on but since he has had his new collar it doesn't bother him. The collar is very good quality.

Franki whippets first collar

I have been very pleased with the collar I ordered from Petiquette. It is of good quality, fits well and Franki seems very comfortable with it. It arrived ahead of schedule, so service was excellent too. Georgina.

The collar fits our 5 month old whippet, Gwynny, perfectly and has some room for growth too. Lovely quality and the thistle colour looks very smart against her white fur.
