Every leather dog collar that we make is tailor made to fit your dog’s neck like a glove, with enough room to tighten or loosen to allow for differences due to grooming. No more annoying flaps of leather that look unsightly and more often than not get chewed on.
It really couldn't be easier to measure your dog’s neck for a handmade leather dog collar from Petiquette Collars. All you will need is a soft tape measure or a piece of string, a pen and paper, and perhaps most importantly, your dog.
The MOST important thing to take into account when measuring though is DO NOT MEASURE THE TOTAL LENGTH OF AN EXISTING COLLAR. This will lead to an incorrect sized collar.
Petiquette Collars generally cover a 2" - 3" neck size range. So for example, a 10" - 12" collar. The first hole would be 10" from the buckle, and the last hole would be 12" from the buckle. Please see the image below for a visual representation.
We are always happy to help when it comes to choosing the size for your dog collar to ensure the perfect fit for your canine friend. If you are in any doubt, please contact us.
Have your dog stand comfortably, hopefully they won’t wriggle too much, but if they do, then bribery with some tasty treats can help. Wrap the tape measure or piece of string around the middle of your dog’s neck so that it is touching the fur but is not tight around the neck.
Make a note of this reading and then take a look at the sizes we offer for each of our bespoke collars.
We would recommend that you choose the collar size where the smallest hole would be as close to the neck measurement as possible.
If your dog has a neck size of roughly 13.5”, then you should choose a 13” - 15” collar size. This will give enough room to tighten it should they lose a little weight, and it gives enough room to slacken it if needed.
If you have a sighthound such as an Italian Greyhound, Whippet, lurcher or Greyhound for example, rather than measuring around the middle of the neck, wrap the tape measure so that it is fairly snug, just behind the ears and under the chin at the top of the neck.
As with our classic collars would recommend that you choose the collar size where the smallest hole is as close to the neck measurement as possible.
If you are measuring for a house collar, we would advise that you measure further down the neck, so that the collar will hang fairly loosely.
This fleur de lis dog collar is a great choice if your pooch has a proud regal bearing – or French heritage, of course.
The Fanciful Fleur features a coat of arms, plus a repeating pattern of small and large Swarovski crystals. They’re genuine Swarovski... because your dog wouldn’t expect anything less.
This collar is custom made to your specifications. Simply choose your favourite leather colour, then decide which colours you’d like for the two crystal sizes.
It's probably the most comfortable collar your dog will ever wear. We make each one by hand with top quality Italian leather, and line them with luxuriously soft calf leather to cover any rough edges and prevent any irritation around the neck.
The studs and crystals are securely riveted into place by hand. They’ll stay put for years, even if your canine King or Queen likes a good scratch.
Would His or Her Majesty like a new lead?
A new lead would set off the look perfectly. We can make it in plain leather, or you can have a crystallised lead with 5” of crystals running form the trigger clasp at the base.
