This soft Italian leather dog collar is simple, elegant and durable.
You won’t have to worry about sharp edges chaffing your dog’s neck. The collar is made by hand from velvety smooth Italian calf leather and finished with rolled edges, so it feels comfortably soft and supple from day one.
The collar can be made in a range of widths and sizes to suit any breed of dog, and is available in virtually any colour you fancy. There are nearly 30 colours to choose from – some vibrant and jewel-like, others subtle and muted. Even better, the leather is completely colour-fast. No matter how wet it gets, the colour will stay on the collar, not your dog’s neck.
Your dog may love rolling in mud, but the leather will come up clean as a whistle. Just give it a quick wipe with a soft cloth.
Unlike cheaper varieties, this collar is made from high quality leather throughout. Lightweight Italian calf leather is cut by hand and wrapped around a strong leather core, with a soft nappa cowhide lining against your dog’s skin. Just like an expensive leather sofa, it will get softer and more beautiful over time.
Once you have a glossy new collar, your old lead may look a bit dull by comparison. Why not complete the look with a matching leather dog lead? If you order a lead with a collar you'll save £5 from the regular price.
How to measure your dog's neck for a leather dog collar
Every leather dog collar that we make is tailor made to fit your dog’s neck like a glove, with enough room to tighten or loosen to allow for differences due to grooming. No more annoying flaps of leather that look unsightly and more often than not get chewed on.
It really couldn't be easier to measure your dog’s neck for a handmade leather dog collar from Petiquette Collars. All you will need is a soft tape measure or a piece of string, a pen and paper, and perhaps most importantly, your dog.
The MOST important thing to take into account when measuring though is DO NOT MEASURE THE TOTAL LENGTH OF AN EXISTING COLLAR. This will lead to an incorrect sized collar.
Petiquette Collars generally cover a 2" - 3" neck size range. So for example, a 10" - 12" collar. The first hole would be 10" from the buckle, and the last hole would be 12" from the buckle. Please see the image below for a visual representation.
We are always happy to help when it comes to choosing the size for your dog collar to ensure the perfect fit for your canine friend. If you are in any doubt, please contact us.
Measuring your dog for a classic collar
Have your dog stand comfortably, hopefully they won’t wriggle too much, but if they do, then bribery with some tasty treats can help. Wrap the tape measure or piece of string around the middle of your dog’s neck so that it is touching the fur but is not tight around the neck.
Make a note of this reading and then take a look at the sizes we offer for each of our bespoke collars.
We would recommend that you choose the collar size where the smallest hole would be as close to the neck measurement as possible.
If your dog has a neck size of roughly 13.5”, then you should choose a 13” - 15” collar size. This will give enough room to tighten it should they lose a little weight, and it gives enough room to slacken it if needed.
Measuring a sighthound for a collar
If you have a sighthound such as an Italian Greyhound, Whippet, lurcher or Greyhound for example, rather than measuring around the middle of the neck, wrap the tape measure so that it is fairly snug, just behind the ears and under the chin at the top of the neck.
As with our classic collars would recommend that you choose the collar size where the smallest hole is as close to the neck measurement as possible.
If you are measuring for a house collar, we would advise that you measure further down the neck, so that the collar will hang fairly loosely.
Measuring your dog for a martingale collar
We offer two types of martingale/half check collars. Slip-on collars, which slide over the head (so need to be large enough to go over the head), and buckle style collars. The sizing is ever so slightly different for each, so please ensure you check our sizing guide below to ensure the perfect fit.
How to measure your dog for a slip-on martingale or half check collar
- Wrap a soft tape measure around the widest part of your dog's head so that it's fairly snug (often around the ears) and take that measurement.
- Take a fairly snug measurement around the middle of their neck too.
- If the head is larger than the middle of the neck, use the head measurement to determine the size needed.
- If the neck is larger than the head, then use the neck measurement to determine the size needed.
- Once you've got the size you need, add 1" to the measurement for smaller dogs (up to roughly 14" neck size) or add 2" for larger dogs.
- Enter this final size as the collar size needed from the drop down menu.
How to measure your dog for a buckle style martingale or half check collar
- Wrap a soft tape measure around the middle of the neck where the collar will sit so that it's fairly snug (often around the ears) and take that measurement.
- Add 1" to the measurement for smaller dogs (up to roughly 14" neck size) or add 2" for larger dogs.
- Enter this final size as the collar size needed from the drop down menu.

This arrived when expected - it's a beautiful well made collar. I bought it when my dog was a year old as his first leather collar and he has had no problems with it.
This is my second collar from Petiquette. My little Bichon outgrew the first which was a shame because it was beautiful. The second one is of the same standard …… very pleased. Will continue ordering as required
I ordered the acorn colour for our black lab and he looks very handsome in it. The quality is lovely and it arrived in a couple of weeks. Overall very pleased and planning to order more colours now!!
I love this beautiful collar, the Italian leather is so soft and comfortable for Tim my little Patterdale boy. I chose the shamrock green this time, and the colour really "pops" against Tim's jet black fir. I've bought three collars now from Petiquette ,one in red and one in pale blue, plus this green one,and I will definitely buy more in the future. Pettiquette is a reliable company, easy to order online, delivery very quick for handmade collars, and top quality leather.Super company who I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to buy a quality, made to measure, unique collar for their beloved pet/pets.
Easy order and good delivery, lovely quality and looks brilliant, highly recommend.
